Charlotte County Jail and Medical Wing Expansion

The County Jail maintains accreditation through the Florida Model Jail Standards, Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission, and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care. These standards, including medical housing provisions, are minimum guidelines that jails must meet to ensure that the constitutional rights of those incarcerated are upheld. The medical wing was not expanded under the 2008 jail expansion. A pod meant for housing (64 beds) is currently used for medical needs.
